The Parliament definitely voted, on April 26, 2007, three laws concerning the fight against discrimination, amending the existing legislation, especially in terms of suppression of racism and xenophobia, as well as equality between men and women. (Ref. 070467)
The three laws concerning the fight against discrimination will come into effect as soon as they are published in the official journal, the Belgian Monitor.
- The “racism” law amends the July 30, 1981 law tending to reprimand certain acts inspired by racism and xenophobia. It transposes the 2000/43 directive passed on June 29, 2000, concerning the establishment of the principle of equal treatment between people, without distinction of race or ethnic origin.
