The Council of Ministers of last 19 May approved a draft royal decree creating an adoption leave and an adoption allowance for self-employed workers. (Réf. 06529)
This project aims at granting -as it is already the case for employees- an adoption leave and an allowance adoption to self-employed workers, when they welcome a new child in their family. The leave ranges between four weeks (if the child is between 3 and 8 years old) and six weeks (if the child is less than 3). The number of weeks is doubled when the child is handicapped.
