In Belgium, the system of paid education leave grants paid leaves for training periods in or outside office hours. On July 20th of this year, just before the parliamentary recess, the council of ministers decided to undertake heavy savings by diminishing the annual credit of hours allowed by worker. The two main French-speaking labour unions of the country, the FGTB and the CSC, have just protested by means of press release against these measures. They want the government to scrap this reform. These measures, which were due to come into force on September 1st, take away a third of the annual credit of 180 hours per worker.
