BenQ Deutschland, the former subsidiary company of Siemens, sold one year ago to the Taiwanese BenQ, was placed in legal rectification on January 1st 2007. 2300 of the 3000 employees agreed to be transferred, for one year, towards two "transfer companies" (Transfergesellschaften), a device which is becoming more and more common in Germany. The chances of finding a buyer for the activities of BenQ in Germany are getting smaller and smaller. On January 1st 2007, no transferee had been found and the company was officially placed in legal rectification. Only 160 BenQ employees are still active until the end of January on the Kamp-Lintfort site (North Rhineland). But here, like in Munich, the assembly lines were stopped.
