Brazil’s main trade union center, CUT (La Central Unica dos Trabalhadores, Unified Workers' Central) has called for a general strike on April 15. This call comes after the House of Representatives approved the controversial bill over outsourcing. The country’s main unions and associations such as the Homeless Workers and Landless Workers’ Movements are all coming together in a concerted effort to protest the bill.
The PL4330 bill passed a House of Representatives vote on April 8. The bill fills a legal lacuna on outsourcing, for treatment on this issue had previously only been a series of declarations by the Supreme Labor court.
