On 30 October, the Bulgarian government proposed a 12.6% increase in the minimum wage to take effect from 1 January 2026. This increase was determined according to the usual mechanism, as Bulgaria has still not transposed the European directive on adequate minimum wages into national law, for which the deadline was 15 November 2024.
On 30 October, the Bulgarian labour ministry proposed a 12.6% minimum wage rise effective from 1 January 2026, when the gross monthly wage will increase from BGN 1,077 to BGN 1,213 (€620). The minimum hourly wage would be BGN 7.31 (€3.74). According to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, this increase should benefit nearly 600,000 employees.
