As of January 2015, the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) will join the North American organization United Steelworkers (USW). In the Canadian section, the two unions will bring together 237,000 members.
Two Canadian trade unions have joined forces to revive their movement. The 12,000 members of the TWU will join the 225,000 members of the USW as of January 2015. The TWU, active in the telecommunications sector, is well established at Shaw Communications and TELUS.
