On November 4 the French cooperative group that employs 2,300 signed an agreement, negotiated with an SNB comprising six different countries, that will put European Works Council in place. The agreement allows the EWC to treat topics such as environmental and social issues and provides ‘correspondent’ status for those countries that cannot sit on the committee because of their small size (below 50).
This information and consultation forum is also to serve as a “basis for enhancing exchange so as to facilitate the company’s adaptation to changes in their economic, social, technological, and cultural landscape”, as referenced in the agreement’s preamble.
