On 25 November 2019, CCEP’s EWC agreement clearly set out the different information and consultation procedure schedules as a function of different situations. On the eve of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU the agreement formally declares that the UK will remain within the scope of the EWC.
CCEP was set up in 2016 and stemmed from the merger of three major European bottling companies, some of which had their own EWCs that now lapse with this new text. Management at the European bottling and distribution company for Coca Cola products along with its SNB had to ‘play well into extra time’ (negotiations continued for three and a half years) in order to avoid the application of subsidiary requirements from the EWC Directive.
