The International Union of Food, Farm and Hotel (IUF) gathered, on May 22 and 23, representatives from over 100 union organizations with members in 32 countries where Coca-Cola is present. On the occasion, the participants launched a "Global Coca-Cola Workers Alliance". In addition, sixty trade unions from ten South American countries gathered in Buenos Aires on May 7 to create the South American Federation of Coca-Cola Workers (FESTRAS), under the auspices of the IUF. The IUF’s Global Coca-Cola Unions Meeting ,
the second since 2003, launched a global alliance with a Steering Group of representatives
form all regions and a “Contact Group” would maintain the twice-yearly meetings
with The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) first negotiated and started in 2005,” the
IUF points out.
