On 21 February, the Cypriot government presented a bill to the Council of Ministers aimed at extending maternity leave. The bill, which is due to be passed by Parliament shortly, would extend maternity leave from 18 to 22 weeks for the birth of the first child (including by surrogate mother) and from 16 to 20 weeks for the first child in the event of adoption.
