On 12 September, the Czech parliament adopted an amendment to the labour code that sets out the procedures for remote work and extends the list of information employers are required to provide when signing, amending or terminating an employment contract. The amendment also creates a stricter framework for requests for parental leave.
Passed by the Czech parliament last week, the amendment to law 262/2006 incorporates the European directive on work-life balance for parents and carers and the directive on transparent and predictable working conditions into domestic legislation. It closes a number of loopholes in the labour code in relation to European law, particularly as regards arrangements for remote work. The text just needs to be signed by the president before being published in the Czech official journal.
