On 1 September, Czech labour and social affairs minister Marian Jurečka (Christian Democrats) announced a 10% increase in the country’s gross monthly minimum wage for next year. It will rise from 18,900 to 20,800 crowns (approximately €755 to €831). “There has never been such an increase from one year to the next,” stressed the minister, pointing out that by 2029, the minimum wage should reach 28,000 to 29,000 crowns, or 47% of the average gross wage.
