Siemens AG SKV's management and the trade unions signed an agreement on August 25 which settles the social consequences of the restructuring of the German group's Czech subsidiary. A two-hour strike preceded the agreement on August 20. (Ref. 080641)
On July 23, the German group Siemens announced that it intended to sell the Prague SKV plant which produces rail vehicles by September 30 or, if there was no buyer, to close it. Judging that the negotiations which opened in the same breath were at a dead end, the Czech Metalworkers’ Union Os Kovo organized a two-hour warning strike on August 20 (see our dispatch No. 080616).
