In spite of companies' obligation to gather information on pay according to gender, the pay gap between men and women is increasing and would have reached 17% in 2006. This is the reason why Jane Korczak, chair of the 3F union, created a national network, launched on March 7, 2008, to remove this gap. At the same time, at ongoing talks, the bill on equal pay is criticized because it does not sanction enough breaches of the equality rule. (Ref. 080226)
According to the Eurostat, the pay gap between men and women in Denmark increased in five years, from 15% in 2001 to 17% in 2006. “This is an issue which no organization will solve alone. We must join forces. With this network, we want to share our experience at all levels and adopt concrete measures, such as making pay equality practices clearer”, declared Jane Korczak at the occasion of the launching of this new network.
