22 million kroner (€2.95 million) is the amount that Cipa, one of three Italian subcontractors working on the expansion of the capital’s metro system, will have to pay in compensation to 3F who represented its Italian, Polish, and Romanian employees in claims for underpayment, a practice that contravenes Danish collective agreements. This is the highest social dumping compensation amount ever awarded in the country.
Cipa Denmark is one of the most important subcontractors working on the Copenhagen Metro Team (CMT)*, started operations a year ago. During the summer of 2014, 3F’s publication Fagbladet 3F revealed evidence of massive fraud relating to its employees’ pay slips. The employees are also members of 3F’s construction federations BJMF (Bygge-, Jord- og Miljøarbejdernes Fagforening).
