Denmark: HK convention wants to change the union to better meet its members’ needs and be more attractive

With the slogan, “Members at the Center,” HK organized its 31st convention in Copenhagen on October 24-26.  With 280,000 members – 75 percent of whom are women – it is the second largest union in the LO confederation.  Nearly two thirds of its members work in administrative positions in several fields, in the private and in the public sectors, while the others have technical or commercial jobs.  The 381 representatives reelected Kim Simonsen as President and Mette Kindberg as Vice-President, and defined the guidelines to achieve the two primary objectives for 2014/17: increase members’ satisfaction and loyalty and maintain stable numbers.  So in addition to regular union activities, HK is going to extend its offers and services, including advice on career management, placement or even the development of skills.  (Ref.  130660)
