On June 11, the Danish Parliament permanently adopted the law that grants foreign workers access to Greenland for large-scale projects. In 2012, the Parliament of Greenland adopted a law that derogated from national collective agreement, causing major opposition, which led to an amendment in 2013.
Since Greenland is an independent province of Denmark, working and residence permits for foreign workers are delivered by the Danish foreign affairs service (Udlændingestyrelse). That’s why the Danish Parliament had to pass a special law. Therefore, the law of June 11 details the conditions to grant these foreign workers a work or residence permit if they have a contract or a job offer for a large-scale project. These conditions are those listed in the Act passed by the Greenland Parliament,
