The LO confederation is having a hard time adopting a position with a view to establishing a commission for equal pay, which public service strikers requested last spring. But the government warned that this commission will only be established if trade unions can reach an agreement. In spite of the negative opinion expressed by the employers' association DI, several heads of businesses said that they were in favor of the creation of this commission. (Ref. 080591)

confederation, started talks with his members to find a joint position by August
in favor of the creation of a commission on equal pay. Thus, the trade union
hopes to be able to present a concrete proposal to the government. Whereas the
recent conflict in the public sector ended with the promise that such a
commission (also requested by the socialist party) would be created, the
liberal-conservative government wants to wait for a union agreement to establish it
