Deutsche Post-DHL: the German multinational signs a joint statement on internal social dialogue and labor dispute settlement in its subsidiaries with UNI Global Union and IFT unions and the OECD’s German office

On Thursday, January 30, the OECD’s German office (NKS) published a joint statement signed with Deutsche-Post-DHL (DP-DHL) and two international union federations, UNI Global Union (services) and the International Transport workers’ Federation (ITF).  This statement looks like a mid-term evaluation of the mediation procedure launched by the NKS.  This procedure following the complaint the two unions filed in 2012, reporting many labor disputes between the management of several national DHL subsidiaries and their staff.  UNI Global and ITF blame the company for failing to comply with the OECD’s code of conduct enacted in the “Guidelines for Multinational enterprises” and for obstructing, via unfair layoffs and other vexations for instance, union practice and the creation of employee representation structures in the company.  The document reports on the NKS’ investigation, stances made by the parties involved, and the positive evolution of the situation.  The signing parties claim that the conflicts mentioned are being settled.  A long-term mediation and dialogue procedure was also set up.  Planet Labor is giving you a report of the documents, as well as the official version of the statement.
