It was French President Jacques Chirac’s demand to reconsider the very criticized draft directive. Since then, experts in competitiveness for the Council of ministers and the European Parliament have taken out several parts of the bill that are considered dangerous.
In order to profoundly revise the draft
directive on “free delivery of services in the internal market”,
experts in competitiveness for the EU Council of ministers have determined
which questions needed to be clarified. This inventory has been exposed at the
Council of ministers on November 28 and 29, and specifies :
1/The scope of the bill : From now on, non-economic
services of general interest are specifically excluded. It has also been
confirmed that the directive shall not interfere...
