As of January 2011, private businesses making a profit will have to pay their employees at least $320 a month.  Currently, minimum wage is $220 a month.  Nearly 100,000 people are going to be affected by this increase.  The amount of this income was based on the cost of the shopping basket, $519.30, and judging that at least 1.6 people per household makes a living.
