The European Commission approved, on March 11, 2008, the €3.54 million aid the Flemish Region intends to grant to support training at Volvo Cars Gent in Ghent, Belgium. The Commission, after an in-depth investigation, lowered the initial amount which exceeded €6 million. (Ref. 080203)
In May 2007, Belgium notified a project of the Flemish Regional Government to grant €6.02 million for a training program for Volvo Cars Gent (Ford Motor Company). The plant, which employs 4.800 people, is introducing a new production platform which will allow the production, in addition to Volvo cars, of Ford and Jaguar models. Part of the training program is directly related to this investment.
