EU: Council of Ministers adopts position on the protection of workers exposed to electromagnetic fields

On October 4, the Employment and Social Policy Council adopted a general approach amending Directive 2004/40 on the protection of workers exposed to electromagnetic fields. The Council's conclusions also look into the European Commission's recommendations published last April on employment recovery in Europe. (Ref. 120591)

The Council’s text, adopted with a view to reviewing the 2004 legislation, proposes a system to measure all fields with frequencies of up to 300 GHz, reducing employers’ obligations regarding the evaluation and reduction of risks to workers’ health.
