The EU Ministers in charge of social Affairs, gathered on June 1 in Luxembourg, did not manage to agree on the draft revision of the "working hours" directive. It is the second time, after the draft Directive on temporary work, that social Europe stumbles on an important text. (Ref. 06552)
Twelve hours of negotiation, a new proposal of the Austrian presidency of the EU and an ultimate proposal for a compromise presented by Luxembourg, were not enough to bring positions closer.
