On March 5, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (Coreper) adopted a compromise on the text implementing Directive 96/71 on the posting of workers, which had received temporary approval on February 27, between the Greek Presidency of the Council and the European Parliament. The deal secures this text’s chances of reaching the end of its legislative course by the end of this term.
The Parliament still needs to validate the text at a plenary session in April before it can be permanently adopted by the Council. After it is published, the Member States will have two years to transpose its measures into national law.
