Exponential success. Erasmus was first launched in 1987, with the will to make European links between young citizens a reality. Since then, 3 million students were able to use this program to study or train abroad, i.e. 230,000annually, with an average scholarship of €252/month. 2011-2012 saw a 7.5 percent increase from the year before. Currently, 33 countries (the 28 EU Member States, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Turkey) and 3,200 secondary education establishments...
EU: “Erasmus +” guarantees youth employability
Erasmus +, also called Erasmus for all, should be launched in January 2014. Thus, the program for student mobility is reformed, and its budget enhanced to better answer the “Europe 2020,” the new strategy for growth and employment, to curb youth unemployment (currently 23.9 percent) and give new mobility opportunities to 5 million new participants. They can go abroad to study, train or volunteer. (Ref. 130470)
