EU: European Commission and India will increase their cooperation with regard to Social Affairs

The meeting between the European Social Affairs Commissioner, Vladimir Spidla, and the Indian Minister for Employment, Oscar Fernandes, ends today November 27th. It resulted in the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding which is due to reinforce the cooperation in the social field between the EU and India. It includes plans of joint studies and exchange programs between social partners. Since 2005, the EU and India have transformed their relations by launching a "strategic" partnership, which notably includes social questions. (Ref 061190)
