The European Commission has set in place a "Restructuring" Forum dedicated to the adaptation of SMEs to change on November 26 and 27, 2007, in Brussels. Highlighting SME's economic importance and their large diversity, the Commission brought forward a few key messages so that role players – including large businesses – help SMEs anticipate change. One of the forum’s workshops, which gathered 400 participants, raised questions about the way large businesses can help SMEs face change, whether those SMEs are integrated into the large business’ value chain (subcontractors, suppliers, service providers) or those located in labour pools in which a large business is present.
