EU: first joint executive committee for the EMF, EMCEF and ETUF:TCL to prepare their coming merger

No to austerity.  Michael Vassiliadis, current EMCEF President, will be the new federation’s Chairman; EMF general secretary, Ulrich Eckelmann, will be the new general secretary and Bart Samyn (EMF), Sylvain Lefebvre (EMCEF) and Luc Triangle (ETUF:TCL) will be deputy general secretaries.  The political program voted this Tuesday is being amended and will be officially adopted in May.  In a context of austerity in European countries’ decision, last December, to increase joint budget limitations, unions are calling for a voluntary industrial policy.  “Our agenda is governed by the decisions made in December.  We’re on the same wavelength as the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC): we will not let Europe define budget and fiscal standards without promising investments at national level” explained Luc Triangle, current general secretary of the textile workers’ union federation.
