European right wins. Sunday’s vote signs the overwhelming victory of the European right over social democracy. With 265 out of 736 MEPs, the majority Parliamentary group, the EPP-ED (European People’s Party-Christian Democrats) will have 37% of MEPs. The PES collapsed with 162 MEPs, going from 27.5% to 22%. Third, the liberals faced a slight drop since, with 80 MEPs, they represent 11% of the Parliament as opposed to 13% previously. Finally, the Greens have 51 members, going from 5 to 7%. Euroskeptics went up with the arrival of British Tories, although we still don’t know which party they are going to join.
