rch 5, 2009, the Court of Justice of the European Communities (EJC) on the compatibility of British law, which permits employers to send to automatic retirement workers of 65 or over, with Directive 2000/78 establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation. The EJC says that national courts have to check if this regulation answers to social policy considerations and if, consequently, it isn’t age discrimination – which is banned. (Ref. 090248)
