The European Court of Justice interpreted Austrian national provisions in the light of three framework agreements negotiated by the European social partners: parental leave, part-time work and fixed-term contracts. The ruling comes from a national procedure launched by the WCs of hospitals in the Tyrol Land against the Land itself to denounce the incompatibility of certain national provisions with Community law. The Austrian court asked the ECJ several prejudicial questions. Three provisions were in question:
