Sweden and Finland will be the only two "old" Member States of the European Union not to restrict the access of their labour market to workers of the new Member States which joined the EU on January 1, 2007, Bulgaria and Romania. All the other old Member States have put restrictions on the entry of Bulgarian and Romanian workers. (Ref. 070010)
The majority of Member States having joined the European Union in 2004, opened their labour market to Bulgarian and Romanian nationals. It is the case of Chyprus, Estonia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Lithuania and Latvia have also announced their intention to open their labour market.
