EU: postal European social partners want stronger social dialogue to better accompany liberalization in the sector

Balance.  In a joint declaration signed this Wednesday, the social partners are assessing the liberalization of the sector, launched on January 1, 2011, via the 3rd postal directive in 16 Member States – France included.  The remaining 11 countries will open their markets in 2013.  They remind that, in a difficult economic situation, with the volume of mail going down, national operators have to reorganize and diversify their activity.  The social partners believe that one of the keys to change is “a quality workforce, motivated, trained and adaptable.”  They add that there needs to be a balance between adaptability and rewarding the workforce.
