The report from MEP Jörgen Warborn, of the EPP group, on the proposed omnibus directive was approved on 13 November by 382 votes to 249. After a compromise proposal among the parties in the von der Leyen coalition collapsed in October, the amended CSRD and CSDDD text was this time passed with far-right support. This unprecedented shift in alliances has significant implications, as the parliament has now taken an even tougher stance than the Council of the EU, which adopted its position in June.

Backed by the far right, the conservative majority pushed through amendments raising the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) threshold to 1,750 employees and further weakening the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
