European Commission vice-president Roxana Minzatu has launched consultations on the roadmap for quality jobs, announced in February as part of the Clean Industrial Deal. The two main organisations consulted, the European Trade Union Confederation and employer organisation BusinessEurope, have opposing views on the issue.
In February, the European Commission presented a package of initiatives to strengthen European industry, particularly in green technologies. Brussels wants to take advantage of investments to create quality jobs, which are necessary to support competitiveness. To this end, the roadmap announced for the end of the year should help member states and businesses to offer “decent working conditions”, “high standards for health and safety”, “access to training” and coverage by “collective bargaining”
