The college of Commissioners adopted, on May 16, a draft directive planning sanctions against people employing people from countries outside of the European Union staying illegally in the country. This draft's goal is to harmonize sanctions in all member States. (Ref. 070439)
This draft directive is part of the EU’s global policy in terms of migration. It aims at harmonizing practices and sanctions throughout the EU and at making sure that they are efficient. The text not only plans sanctions against companies and their leaders, but also against individuals employing workforce coming from countries outside of the EU staying in the country illegally.
