On October 3, the European Commission adopted the proposal for the revision of Directive 92/85 on the protection of maternity along with a package for reconciling professional and family life. The draft considerably improves the rights of pregnant women or their return after maternity leave. In fact, this text rather seems to be a legacy of this outgoing Commission. (Ref. 080746)
The “reconciliation” package adopted today contains an announcement for “increasing efforts to better reconciliation of professional, private and family life” (see coming article), a revised draft directive for women working independently or privately in addition to the draft revision of directive 92/85 on the protection of health and job safety of pregnant workers and workers who have recently given birth or are breastfeeding.
