EU: the European Commission thinks private pension schemes have to develop and improve accessibility

Last week, the European Commissioner for Social Affairs, Vladimir Spidla called upon the Member States to "adapt European pension schemes to new demographic trends and to the new labor market to make them adequate and sustainable." In a study presented on October 20 by the Commission, it appears that private pension schemes are growing within the EU bit that their accessibility and sustainability still need to be improved. This report should enable the Member States, as part of the open consultation method, to exchange good practices to face stakes due to ageing. (Ref. 080837)
