EU: the European Parliament adopted the report on the modernization of labour law

During a vote in a plenary session on July 11, the European Parliament adopted, with a large majority, the report of the Polish deputy Jacek Protasiewiscz (PPE-DE) on the green book on the modernization of labour law. This report, deeply revised during the debates within the Parliament's social affairs' commission (see our dispatch n°070598,) was adopted with two significant amendments: one concerns independent workers judicial situation, and the other proposes to modernize social dialogue. This report’s final draft, defending a more qualified vision of 21st century labour law, associating both flexibility and job security, is very close to that adopted at the end of June by the social affairs’ commission. However, parliamentarians brought, during the plenary session, two significant changes:
