During a vote in a plenary session on July 11, the European Parliament adopted, with a large majority, the report of the Polish deputy Jacek Protasiewiscz (PPE-DE) on the green book on the modernization of labour law. This report, deeply revised during the debates within the Parliament's social affairs' commission (see our dispatch n°070598,) was adopted with two significant amendments: one concerns independent workers judicial situation, and the other proposes to modernize social dialogue. This report’s final draft, defending a more qualified vision of 21st century labour law, associating both flexibility and job security, is very close to that adopted at the end of June by the social affairs’ commission.
