French MEP Jean-Louis Cottigny (PES) developed a report on the application of directive 2002/14 establishing a general framework for informing and consulting employees. The text will be sent to be voted to the Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs in two months. (Ref. 080912)
In his draft report, Jean-Louis Cottigny says that the national transpositions of directive 2002/14 are “uneven and minimalist.” He is therefore calling on the Member States, with the watchful supervision of the European Commission, to ensure a proper transposition of the European text, or even to transpose it for those which haven’t done it yet. Given the economic context, which is going to accelerate restructuring processes, mergers and relocations, the report wants to improve workers’ right
