After a meeting with French and European social partners, on February 19, Xavier Bertrand, the French Labor Minister, announced the broad lines of the social program of the EU's future French presidency, which will start on July 1. Flexicurity, social agenda, draft directives on temporary work, revision of the directive on working time and of the directive on the portability of supplementary pension rights will be on the presidency's menu. On this occasion, European social partners officially announced they were going to negotiate the revision of the directive on EWCs, of which the consultation document is expected for today. “Social Europe is a major stake for our presidency”, declared Xavier Bertrand after the meeting with the Committee for Social Dialogue on European and International Issues (CDSEI,) on February 19, 2008, where European social partners were invited to give their opinion and expectations as to the future EU presidency.
