uncil of Ministers approved the text applying Regulation No. 883/2004 on the coordination of social security systems. This permanent adoption allows the new rules which govern the rights to social security of migrant workers to apply as early as March 2010. (Ref. 090768)

A pillar of the free movement of people, a fundamental EU freedom, and a major gain for social Europe, Regulation 1408/71 enabled, in most cases, to neutralize the impact of intra-European migrations on social security rights,
