UNI-Europa reminds that the European Commission wants to end the postal monopoly from January 1, 2009 without being able to guarantee a universal postal service or tariffs accessible to customers, whatever their place of residence. Unions ask the Ministers’ council, which will meet on June 7, 2007, to reject the Commission’s proposition and want to exert an active lobbying among European deputies before they speak out for or against during the month of July. Union organizations from the postal sector took part on a day of action and mobilization throughout Europe on June 6, under the aegis of the union federation UNI-Europa Post Logistic. The goal is to "resist to the postal liberalization plan" borne by the European Commission. (Ref. 070503)
