Cabin personnel of the Finnish airline, Finnair, have been on strike since 4 am Thursday October 19 in protest against the announcement of the recruitment of 500 cabin employees through its Estonian subsidiary Aero Airlines at wage levels 30% below those of the parent company. The objective of the airline is to recruit in order to pursue its growth in Europe and Asia. It plans to create 2000 jobs in the months ahead (Ref. 061044).
Current annual wages of cabin personnel at Finnair are on average 40 850 € with addition of 4 500 € in various bonuses. Cabin personnel of two other Finnish subsidiaries of Finnair, Bluel and Airfinland, are already paid at rates of the branch agreement, ie. 30% less than in the parent company.
