At the close of the social conference, held on 19 October, Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced a draft law for the beginning of 2016 “recasting the Labor Code” that intends to make way for more collective negotiation. The reform would first be implemented in specific domains. In addition, regulating the individual activity account (Compte Personnel d’Activité (CPA)) will commence in 2016.
Compte Personnel d’Activité (CPA). This individual activity account is meant to “encourage labor mobility and risk taking” whilst safeguarding career paths and should cater for all assets not just those earning wages. Similarly it should be an “instrument that combats inequalities”, Manuel Valls declared in his closing speech.
