France: Korian and Monoprix harness government-backed retraining scheme

Following in the footsteps of cleaning firm Derichebourg, Monoprix (part of the Casino group) has signed a partnership with Korian and joined its 'Passerelles' crossover programme. The agreement will see some 60 members of Monoprix’s checkout staff training, from this year, in the profession of care assistant with a view to ultimately joining Korian, which operates retirement homes in France. The effort will receive funding from the French state, which will cover part of the wage and training costs, via its 'Transitions Collectives' (collective transitions) scheme. Elisabeth Borne, France’s employment minister, who attended the launch event on 19 May in Paris, wants to make the government’s scheme, which will receive €500 million as part of the recovery plan, permanent.
