France: Labor Ministry presents first review of the ‘Macron Ordonnances’ (President Macron’s fast track ordinances)

On 10 September at an informal national press conference French Labor Minister Muriel Pénicaud presented a summary of President Macron’s series of ordinances that aimed to overhaul the country’s Labor Code and that was implemented over the past seven months. Noteworthy was the observation of a continual reduction in the number of disputes proceedings, in line with the Government’s stated goal. The Minister also presented data relating to other areas including the merging of representation bodies, and recourse to referenda, which she argued ‘evidences a culture change’.
