France : opening of 61 trades to the Eastern workers

The Labour Minister announced, on April 28th, which trades' access will be made easier for workers from the new member states. This list, which has been drawn up « in consultation with the social partners» contains 61 trades that are suffering from « tensions » on the recruitment level. (Ref. 06424)

France should let know its proposal to the European Commission before May 1st 2006. After a selection of criteria allowing the identification of the trades suffering from these so-called « tensions » and two consultation sessions with the unions and managment (cf article n°06386) the government has made up its mind. This list, that should take effect from next May 1st, still has to be issued at the devolved employment services. This « progressive and mastered » opening of the labour market...
